between Chuquibamba and Cotahuasi. The summit is on a jagged,
eroded rim that contains three main peaks. The south-west peak is the
lowest, at about 19, (5900 meters). The north peak is just over 6000
meters, with no recorded climbs. The summit is the center peak at
19,990 feet (6093 meters), which requires good glacial skills to
ascend by the normal route. The first reported climb was in 1973 by a
Peruvian/Italian team.
